Started off the weekend getting 11th row lower level seats for Billy Joel (Chicago show). Saturday night was fun... my old friend Jack Daniel's came along to Mary's birthday celebration. That led to a lot of sleep, but I managed to wake up in time for lunch on Sunday. Ran in to some friends at Stella's, and got a free lunch out of the deal.

Work is still pretty crappy. So much stuff going on, and not enough people or time to do it all. Fun. I really kind of just want the week to be over so we can get to the Super Bowl. That is all.

Sure am glad this week is over. From not getting the job, to being crazy busy at work, to other stuff, it has been kind of crappy. Got stuck at work late last night, but managed to catch the last express bus, so I guess there's a positive. And now I'm drinking some Breakfast Blend that I made... my favorite of all Starbucks' offerings.

Billy Joel (!) tickets go on sale in an hour. Hopefully I will get some good ones. And find someone to go to the show with me. I will worry about that later, though. This would truly be a religious experience for me. Kind of wish I was going to the Auburn Hills show with someone in particular, but that is a topic for another day or a private entry.

In other news, I watched The Office again this week. Apparently it was a rerun, but it was the first time in a LONG time that I have watched a TV program other than Family Guy two weeks in a row. Pretty funny stuff.

Going out for my friend Mary's birthday tonight, in my neighborhood. Haven't gone out with most of that group in awhile. Should be fun. Other than that, a weekend of cleaning up the apartment and relaxing. Hopefuly this will be a better week, and then it is home to the suburbs for the Super Bowl. The Bears in the big game, and Billy singing the National Anthem. What a day.

So my parents have been talking about getting a new TV for awhile now. I finally convinced them to do it before the Super Bowl! I will now be watching the Bears in the big game on a 46" High Definition television. They're even ditching the dial-up internet connection. My dad called me for advice, and I welcomed him to the late '90s.

Pretty happy with my ComEd bill. It's been significantly warmer than last year so far, and it has saved me some cash. God bless global warming!

In other news, my cousin from AZ has a gymnastics meet in Chicago on Feb. 10. Just found out that she will be competing at 8 AM. On a Saturday. Fun. Of course, I will be there, but I will definitely be stopping by Starbucks. Will be nice to see her, and my aunt and uncle.

Not much else new to report. Very glad that tomorrow is Friday. Looking forward to a nice, quiet weekend.

No new job for me yet. They have decided to keep it internal and move someone around from inside the agency. Still good interviewing experience, I guess.

I am going to half-watch the State of the Union, although there's really not much of a chance that any big news is going to come of it. But I will watch because I'm sure Chris Matthews and company over at MSNBC will be all over it. And it's the real beginning of the '08 presidential season.

That is what I'm doing, and it is not fun. I interviewed at a new agency (www.draftfcb.com) last week, and now I am just in waiting mode. As most everyone knows, I am pretty ready to leave MSI after about six years. Just not enjoying it anymore, for many reasons that I won't get in to. Just an overall "rut", I guess... and I am hoping that a change of scenery in the work area will help. The worst of it is, I still need to go to work every day and at least go through the motions of being there. While people are catching on to the fact that I am looking for a job. Fun. I usually don't let myself get all worked up like this, so it will be nice if I get this. Better money, benefits, experience, blah blah. And it would be a nice excuse to go out and get wasted with all my current and former co-workers.

Had a quiet week... got my Peapod delivery and had dinner with Aliya on Wednesday... always nice to have food. And see her. Sure will be sad when she moves to Wisconsin.

Of course, I enjoyed the Bears game this weekend -- watched with Johnny K and family. For some reason I had an awful headache all day, and felt like I was gonna puke by halftime, but I toughed it out. My parents have a Super Bowl party every year, and we will FINALLY have the Bears as one of the teams! Talked to my brothers, and they just can't believe that the Bears are there. I vaguely remember the 1986 Super Bowl, but this is still pretty cool. Not nearly as cool as it would be to see our Cubs in the World Series, but I will take it.

In other news, are we all ready for the year-and-a-half campaign for President? MSNBC was sure all over it tonight! Hillary should not be running. I can't believe the Democrats will be dumb enough to nominate a third candidate that is so unelectable. I really wish there was a candidate I love on either side, but there is not. Newt Gingrich is probably the closest to me ideologically, but he is clearly even more unelectable than Hillary. Oh well. It would be nice to see Giuliani become the first Italian President, but I doubt he can win either. I will probably be voting for McCain in the primary. Maybe Obama is the guy, but I don't know if he will stand up to the scrutiny. You know it will get brutally ugly in the attacks against him-- even before the Democratic primaries are done.

More importantly, Mayor Daley is set to roll to another victory next month! It will be my first Chicago election vote, and I will be happily supporting the Mayor.

Nothing else to report at the moment. Just watching some ESPN and chatting with Jen before bed.

Can't really promise that I will post on this thing all that often, but Aliya said I had to, so here you go.
